Red Bay named UNESCO World Heritage Site
Red Bay’s Basque Whaling Station has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, joining L’Anse aux Meadows and Gros Morne National Park as the third location in Newfoundland and Labrador to make the list.
The Red Bay Basque Whaling Station, in Labrador, has been inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage List for its outstanding universal value. UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee made this decision at its annual meeting, held this year in Cambodia. (CNW Group/Government of Canada)
